In the past it has been:

    Elite 6
    Masters 5
    Vets 4
    Junior 4

They are all still to be confirmed.

Not sure whether to enter elite, or Senior 4.

If its 5 laps, i'll go for the senior 4 i'd imagine!

    Senior 4?
    Are you taking the proverbial?

Enter Experts and get on with it! I see Stevie Law has already stepped up to the mark and you were racing him yesterday.

In fact, one of the guys from Dromara who has only started racing and done two S4 races has decided to do the Masters race. Its a one off race, your big chance! You get to test yourself and not worry about losing out on league points.

    No medals for non-championship races!

It's quite a short lap this year so the laps will probably be increased for all catagories.

You'll hardly have time to get a drink on the way round!!

Good to see we have the choice of the Experts category! Unlike at the Irish champs.

Today is the last day to take part in the Ulster Champs.
Registration closes tonight so tell anyone who's thinking of giving it a go, to sign up now. You cannot register on the day.
Thanks to those who have already registered - looking like a great turn out for Sunday.

    Aaaargh.... 5 laps. Really.
The 2 races i've done this year my aim has been to not fall off or finish last....
so for this one is just to finish!
Day of rest tomorrow i think.

Although it's quite a short lap in terms of distance it's still a 20 min + lap time for most people so the number of laps won't be increased.

Cheers Barry. And your probably right John. If I make it as far as 5 laps.
I wonder if there is anywhere I can set up camp on the course?

    Re: Ulster MTB Championships

A good turn out yesterday I thought and a great bit of banter from all taking part. The track held well with only some rather muddy sections and thankfully only a few accidents and nothing major.
Hopefully everyone had a good time - results now up on UlsterXC website.

Thanks to you all Aidso, great race and a worthy Championship course.

A lot of good rides by folk on here, JohnnyOneLung, J.O.H.N and bigpeter151 stepping up to the mettle of Masters off the top of my head, And St Colin riding Experts in his Biggles glasses and on a Meta5!

    YoungWalsh second in masters
    Chucky 3rd in Experts
    SteveSpesh 2nd in Experts

And I managed to fluke the win in Masters, whoohoo!

Barry I thought Roger was in your cat, when you were shouting at him to hurry up lol. He was the only person I seen coming down that fire-break section with a smile on his face..and he was faster every time! Incredible.

Castlewellan never fails to impress! Some great racing for kids and the adults on a proper MTB course.

Well done to everyone who came away with a result!

3rd time lucky for me at Castlewellen. First ever mtb race 2 years ago and a DNF. Last year also a DNF & very lucky not to DNF this year too! Well done to XMTB for an excellent course.
