Castledawson is decent as is Smiths in moneymore, Smiths is more expensive but higher end. Also one in portglenone that seems pretty good. However youre probably best learning to do gears and brakes yourself as they are really simple and require few tools, plus it saves you money and time.

Thanks for the advice.. Ive been trying to set up the gears myself but not having much success. Will keep trying and see if I can get them right. Then take it to somone if that doesnt work.

Get yousrelf a book and make time to find out about your bike. Repairs are expensive enough without paying for labour charges.

Otherwise refer to the internet guides or ask on here for advice, Ive got loads of help on here with gears, headsets BB etc.

It could be something simple like a bent mech hanger, or cable tension, or ol' dirty cables. A wee bit of reading will go a long way to working out how your gears work.

True. My mate used to be pathetic at fixing bike bits and fettling. Now,after watching loads of YouTube vids and asking lots of really annoying questions he is no longer pathetic. Just a bit dire.

But he loves the satisfaction of spending hours fixing stuff even though a competent person could do it in minutes. Its theraputic he says.

    Hope that helps

CRC run a three week bike maintenance course, next one is starting Wednesday 16th May. There are 3 x 2 hour sessions which cover the fundamentals like fixing gears, replacing cables etc. It costs £45 and you bring your own bike, location is Boucher Road.
