When a relatively unheard of 22-year-old Lenz Sport (http://www.lenzsport.com/) rider named Chris Del Bosco became the US national downhill champion on September 26 at Mammoth Mountain, it seemed the whole world was surprised. But the latest twist in Del Bosco's career comes as just as big a shock—his title has been revoked. The United States Anti-Doping Agency announced Friday that Del Bosco's drug tests came back positive for THC and second place finisher Duncan Riffle replaced Del Bosco as downhill national champ.
Riffle, who just turned eighteen on Oct. 28, placed 8th at the 2004 Junior Downhill World Championships. Chumba Wumba (http://www.chumbawumba.com/) was his main sponsor for 2004, but next season's sponsorship is still in the air. One thing's for sure, Riffle's new stars-and-stripes jersey should give him some leverage during the negotiations.
