Yep, that's right you didn't read that wrong, you can buy the latest greatest Light & Motion off road riding lightset, worth a whopping £450, for only a tenner. Well, sorta, you can buy the chance to win it for £10 anyway.

To help raise essential funds for Project Belvoir trail building we're going to raffle a set of the fantastic Light & Motion ARC Ultra (http://www.bikelights.com/Products/arc_liion_ultra.htm) lightsets, these are the dogs dangly bits and retail for £450! The best bit is there are only 99 tickets being sold, so you have a bloody good chance to win these.

lights kindly donated by Madison.

Entering the raffle is super easy, just go here (http://www.realcycles.com/products.php?plid=m2b53s124p578) and buy one of the 99 tickets using your credt or debit card, we'll print out your receipt and put it into the raffle. Then on December 19th (or as soon as the 99 tickets are sold) we'll have the draw one lucky person will walk away with £450 worth of lights for only a tenner! It don't get much better than that.

So come on folks, support the Belvoir trail building project and bag your self a bargain at the same time.

Steve,

re the conversation last night at the board meeting, I'll wait until after the weekend to hit the national websites with this, that'll give all the local guys a chance to get in first as there are only 99 'tickets' available.

is that OK ?

Andy

Brilliant competition - are you sure I can't enter ?

That looks like it should have been a private message unless it was a not so subtle plan to prompt ticket sales.

This seems like a great idea to raise funds but I have some queries before I go handing over my hard earned 10er.

How much does the club get out of the £990 raised from the draw?
I see the lights are worth £450 which means they must be around £300 trade. So the profit is going to be somewhere between £540 and £690 before credit card charges, depending on what Steve lets them go for.

2. Is the draw open the “the management”? Might not look so good if Steve B, Andy H or Andy B etc. were to win.
I am sure if these questions were answered the tickets would shift a lot faster.

Good points raised Ivan.

Not worked out the total to the club as I have to take into account CC charges as you say, but the club will get everything that's left after the lights have been paid for (trade price inc VAT) and the small credit card fee is paid. I'm guessing it's gonna be about £650.

Originally it was decided that board members couldn't enter, but then I thought why not, their money is as good as anyones. Providing the draw is totally transparent, ie loads of people attend it, check that the 99 tickets in the box all have different names on them (not all just board members) and the winning ticket is drawn by an indepenant person, why not let them support the cause.

At the end of the day we need to raise money, lots of it. If people think it's not on for board members to enter then they won't, we're not trying to con anyone, we're just trying to raise money for trail building.

If anyone out there has any official title or experience in these matters and wants to oversee the raffle to ensure fair play, that'd be cool, gove me a shout.

Steve,

the 'board' decided that board members can't enter so we don't insite the conspiracy theorists like Ivan. Only the board can undo that decision.

Ivan,

give us a break man, we are trying to raise funds to get great trails in Belvoir, we are not trying to rip off your hard earned tenner.

I for one am happy that board members are allowed to enter. After all, every tenner counts.

And if you need an independant adjudicator, I'm cheap... I mean I'm available :)

(should point out that this offer is meant as a joke as I don't have any experience and don't work for the Notional lottery or anything)

As I understood we only agreed that board members couldn't win, no one said they could buy a ticket though.

I hate to bring this up again but something just doesn't add up. We have this statement above but also just below the light image we have this...

How can this be?
I do know that you have been "pushing" on a trade forum to get a free set of lights steve, so have you managed it as the "lights kindly donated by Madison" suggests? Meaning more money for the club!

Oh Ivan, will you stop trying to convince yourself (or everyone else) that there is some sort of con going on here, if you want to buy a ticket, but one. If you don't, don't.

FYI- Initially we we're getting the lights at the normal trade price, a few calls later the supplier agreed to supply us a set at a considerable discount to the trade price so the club will get a bit more cash.

In return I added the "donated by" line.

If you still think summit is going on call into the shop and I'll show you the invoice, if you want you can also come to the draw and check everything is cool.

OK now?

Oh, just spotted that bit, I'm guessing then that your trade and saw my post on bikebiz, in which case you'll be interested to know that we're about to open the site up for other shops to advertise, interested?

I think the commitee is being over defensive about the draw. I dont think there should be any restriction on who can buy tickets as long as the draw is seen to be fair. Hows the sale going, are there many tickets left :) ?

Unfortunately Colin there will always be people who think we’re trying to rip them off and the whole thing will be fixed, so it was decided at the last meeting that we (the committee members) could not win the prize. I however, have bought a ticket anyway, just to show support. If my ticket is in the draw and I by chance am the lucky winner I will not accept the prize and the next ticket drawn will win.
It’s a real shame that some folks can’t take us at face value…
