    I have a solid fuel Stanley stove, superb buy as it's been heating our kitchen/living area non stop for 3 years now.
    We burn coal mainly but timber when I get time to cut etc.
    Easy run with one...

    I got the solar water heating in about 5 months ago. It uses refrigerant gas and is maintenance free. Hot water 24/7 all winter, just turn the boiler on for rads. Hardly used any oil all winter....

    I have preesurised heating and hotwater tank, means there is no overflow tanks in roof space to freeze in the -20's, and hotwater is at mains pressure so bath fills quick and showers are power...
