Perhaps it's the time of the year, perhaps the weather, either way private campaigners are cranking themselves up at the moment with two launches recently: www.stopatred.org and www.givecyclistsroom.co.uk

The first, stop At Red, is the brain child of bike shop owner Andy Shrimpton and is aimed at those cyclists who give us all a bad name by jumping red lights. The idea is to get as many cyclists to sign the online petition thus telling the non cycling world that riders themselves are as annoyed at light jumpers as they are.

Said Andy recently:
it's about we as a [cycling] community recognising that it is a problem and taking a stand. I can't tell you how many people have said "great - at last, light runners really **** me off - they're giving us a bad name."

Good idea or not? have a read of the site (http://www.stopatred.org) and make you own mind up. If you agree sign the petition.

The other campaign is one that will ring a bell with anyone who has ever ridden their MTB on the road is traffic. Give Cyclists Room is just that, a campaign to tell drivers to give bikes on the road more space. Visit the site and get a car sticker.
