Info from the site chucky -

"Entry for the event will close when the quota has been filled or midnight Sunday 22nd August, whatever happens first. There is no provision for paying on the morning. All entries must be in by the deadline."

I'm gonna knock out 40 miles of x/c this saturday or sunday to if my back can cope with that it should be ok doing about 90 road miles which i think is roughly lap the lough distance.

You doing the proper route?
GPS it for me!
I want to know how I'd cope if I give it a shot next year... I can give it a lash in a few months time on my own :)

There is a couple of us doing the Hilly 125 at a leisurely pace if you want to join us, forecast has improved to cloudy without much wind.

Anybody recommend a good road club around South Belfast/North Down?

Cheers
But I am only not doing it this year as I am up to my eyes in Dirty nappies now for a while due to the new arrival.

Chicken route for me, full Mourne Sportive route sounds scary with fast peoople doing it, so no wheel sucking to be done. Just the 125 this year.

S. Belfast/N. Down Clubs: Phoenix CC (club runs go from House of Sport, Malone ROad), Northern CC (aka Dave Kanes) and North Down CC (Bangor based). Check Cycling Ireland website for full club list.

Ah kenny, never thought you'd shirk a challenge!
Get the route if you can and we can swap wheel sucking responsibilities in a few weeks time.

Everyone that is currently signed up to do it can I ask are you doing it on your xc bike or on a road bike ? I am thinking of trying it on the x/c if there is a group doing the same if not a bloke in work offered me his racer to don it on .

RickyI've seen both, xc with road tyres (knobbles drag the legs outa U), but a racer would be a glide :)

wouldn't entertain this on the XC bike. done it the past 2 years on the racing bike and it's still tough

Had a fantastic day out! Even got some dodgy looking tan-lines from the lovely sunshine! Water & food & freebies were all spot on too!

Looking forward to next year already! :D

I also had a brill day lapping the lough. The whole thing was organised brilliantly and the craic was plenty. I got caught in a few sprints for 30s.. feckin roadies!! Second that the freebies and food and water was a nice touch.

What a day, the sun was out and the organisation was superb, how an event should be run.

Totally agree Tim, was a great day in the saddle. And well done to Phil (jumpasarus) for completing it for a guy who said he'd never set his arse on a road bike.
