The girlfriend and I had our holiday cancelled with Goldtrail going pear shaped and if we get our refund we were thinking of a weekend in Glentress.
Anyone got any tips ie where to park, best route to get there, best trails and how to find them etc.
Also what ferry is best/cheapest for a weekend deal?
Also she is a bit of novice and though the vids all look like she could ride the trails, is there definitely enough riding there to suit her without getting bored.

Theres a carpark at Glentress, an abundance of trails that the girlfriend will be able to handle no probs. My girlfriend is a bigger novice than me and she had a ball. It was good to hear her "whooping" in the forest as I waited at the bottom for her. She will love it. Just make sure she gets out a few times over here before she goes, just to get used to the saddle etc and get the lehs spinning. Trails at trail centres arent particuarly difficult, but great fun.
There should be loads of accomodation too and just price the usual suspects for ferries.

book a day trip ferry deal with StenaLine and another one with P&O and it will save you around £150.
I have booked two days trips for a week long break with StenaLine before and they have never mentioned anything on the way back over.

Just back from 4 days in GT. Booked the 50 quid One day return with Stena (did not use the return) and booked a one way via Troon into Larne. Saved us a few quid. Stayed in the Bunkhouse 20 quid PP per night, grt spot, secure coded bike storage and a bike wash and a drying room. Communal kitchen. 10 min cycle from GT Centre. Busy road though.
Peebles is not a bad spot for a night out 10 min drive.
The blue run is great to get confidence up on. Fast and flowy and not that technical and then progress to the Red, Spooky woods is great crack. The freeride park is great for learning new skills. Black run is long and remote in places lots of climbing but the decents make the effort worth while.
