Hi,
Just thought I'd ask where the best flowing singletrack in NI is? All opinions welcome.

If thats the same tardree up the hill behind my house, then yes, I agree. The most flowtastic trail going.

Never found anything overly fast or flowing in Tardree. Still not a bad spot from what Ive ridden. Wouldnt mind meeting some locals up there sometime.

You'll find people who are local to Tardree all over the province.

I was going to say Ballanistoe but then, its not really in Northern Ireland is it?
Some great single track at castle wellan when its well maintained, but i've never ridden davagh i dont think.
Just watched the video there and the bit a 40 seconds looks a lot like the bit i was thinking of at Ballanistoe. I am going to Davagh.

Hahaha, tis norn irn's second city.
Nah, tis just thon road i live on. About 6 miles outside N'ards and about a mile away from Ben Reid's house. Just to name drop.
Not much riding here, but its as close as any roadie will get to riding singletrack.

Cottage Run, Tollymore.
gotta disagree, not that flowy in comparison to quarry run cavey - much long better faster and much much more fun
have done both in the last few weeks cavey all the way

never found any of tolly that flowy, tech and fast maybe but always lacking a certain flow
some good flow in bigwood, run that passes some pend then own the side of a wall, that's my vote

To be honest there are only two trails in the tollymore area with proper flow to them. One is the new alternative line at the top of the most ridden trail in Ulster and the other is the hiking trail over to donard (It flows well if you arent afraid to do a bit of pedalling)
Everything else is pretty much a straight line. But still a lot of fun.

Middle run, davagh!
Even compared to that nice trail up the hill at tardree you did with me and Paddy and Monty that time a few months back?
I must get down to Davagh if thats the case!

Middle run, davagh!
havent found a better run than the middle run in davagh for proper, unbroken flowing singletrack.
quarry run in cavey, yeah its good, its fast but it just doesnt seem to flow together. The rest of cavey is really disjointed i thought.
tardree, been a while since i was there. didnt really flow to well again, rather disjointed. although one of the new trails at the time had potential.
agree with barry about tollymore too

Rostrevor? That was mint Barry, dont be all sensitive on me now. Surely the most of that wasnt singletrack though? Like maybe down through the forest, and the very end of the downhill bit- that turn left at the wall or die bit?
Just when I think flowy singletrack I think of hardpacked fast twisy stuff where no-one dare pass or somethin, I dunno. Like the end of the red run at kirroughtree. I was about to say the sort of stuff you can hold speed on but im sure to get the "i can hold speed on any track" line. :-)

No no NO, Tardree.
Where is this place you're talking about?
You must have had your eyes closed for the first half of the run ;)
But plenty of passing points agreed.
Must get down to Davagh though (I have that on repeat for 3 years now)

Tell me when you're going, I'll join ya ;)
I'll agree with Barry that the alternative top section to the country's most ridden trail, or whatever he called it, is the most flowy singletrack I've ever ridden!

ok Davagh, worth a drive from newtownards? what is it climbs up fireroads and singletrack decents? seen steves vids with the wooden jumpy bits on the steam trail, looks like fun.
and if its worth the drive up are the trails easy found?
cheers

The middle run of Davagh gets my vote (when Dave finally gets the finger out and the stream bridged again and more ladders etc built)
Wall run at Bigwood is a close 2nd.

Thats a downhill run to me, the middle section of the front XC run through the bluebells down to thewall at the road would be more flowing in my opinion anyway
