Managed to cram 5 hours out around North Downs Finest today and it was bliss! Trails are riding brilliantly, nice and dry in all but a very few places, the bluebells are out and it was warm and sunny!:)

Serious amount of flies around though :( (less the few dozen I think I managed to swallow)

All in all a grand day out! :D

And I have beer in the fridge for later!!

5 Hours?? this include Pitstops :P normally takes us 2 hours?
Was talking to Jack on Sunday about Bapmunchers coming to Bever for a circuit of South Belfast's best, U up for it?

Well I avoided the Pitstop and spent sometime sessioning HT. Then a bit more time lounging in the sun while I watched the world go by! Then stopped for coffee and brownies in Ballyholme and watched the world go by some more!
I even cleared a great big branch someone had put across the trail that runs parallel to the path in Blackwood!

Yup - Im up for a bit of Belvoir!

Just depends on the day and if Im required for dad duties or not.

A few activists up Blackwood :( might take the dogs up and bury or drag of any spare wood about the place, not make it easy for trail blockers. Maybe clippers as well as thorns are closing the gaps again.
Think u'd like bever, bits of everything, some figure of 8 XC runs, circuit above Iris's dry and fast with some northshore and berms, jumps big and small, fun park at auborium, short steep fast descents at bomb hole. All in all good training ground. No bacon baps though but carrot cake and wee scones (healthy option) :)

Peps from Creaghy call it Bever, it also gets that name for another reason ... long story
Iris's cafe is good for a pitstop, luv their carrot cake and benoffie :O
Auborium is between Malone house and Mary Peters, steep bank with jumps and a zig-zag of berms
As for avoiding it - there is a certain regrettable snob attitude on here :(
Only downside is it gets very very busy at first bita decent weather

So do you pronounce that Bev-er or Bee-ver??

Anyway why Bever? Theres no such word or do you mean "Beaver" as in a small fury creature that gnaws on trees?

Bee-ver - age old problem of Belfast people being confronted by something foreign and posh!
Member of the smacking small balls about club used to pronounce it Bel -voirrr
It was frequented by prossies at one time reinforcing the 'Beaver' in Bee-ver

new? - there has always been something there as far as I remember, recently added too and expanded, if approaching from Malone house look out for big sign Abourium {check spelling-bird sanctury?}
Great when powdery dry or a wee drop of rain, heavy rain turns the clay slippery.
I would stick some videos up - but I'd get told off :P

{google}
South Belfast
Malone road
House of Sport
down to Shaws bridge
Much of the south side of the Lagan where the woods go up to Belvoir Estate is deemed bever in biking terms

Googled it... nope couldn't find bever.
probably better i didn't since i'm sure whoever built 'Bever' doesn't want joe public to know were their trails are...
may as well sign post it from the carriage way...

Stephen, I'm glad (jealous) your getting out & getting in some miles around North Down's finest. As per usual the thread has been hi-jacked & gone way way off topic as per first post. Keep up the good training, i'd do anything to get out, never minding where it was..

PS, I HATE THREAD HI JACKERS, THIS WHERE THE MOD'S SHOULD KEEP THE TOPIC TO THE CREATOR'S ORIGINAL POST & those writing, should at least try and spell it right. ;)

Have you thought about using a trainer to keep you going until you get on the bike again?

Don't think Google shows trails? best to find out how to get to Shaws bridge (google reference), then explore :)

I have been up at HT a bit more recently and it is very nice (apart from the fellow MTBers who are pushing up the middle of the trail when you are coming down - come on guys MOVE out of the way).

Fuggin Bustards... I was through Blackwood on Saturday and Sunday and spent quite a bit of time clearing
branches and logs from these trails, dog walkers are ham shankers!
