I'm wondering if there are as yet any good deals going. Anyone seen anything? Ideally a fixed for ten years at around 5.5%. I'll look at less years but I'm not paying a stupidly high "arrangement" fee!

Is it worth going fixed or short term discounted tracker? i'm thinking the rate wont rise a lot over the next couple of years so take benefit of the low rates while they last?

Ring Ashtree Financial services in Newry (Part of Autoline) Tel: +44 (0)28 3026 2026

Ask to speak to Lynne Agar, she is very good and should give you a reasonable idea on what is available

Will look into those.

Funnily I called my mortgage provider earlier and mentioned reducing the term of mortgage down to ten years and just staying on on variable (which might not be such a bad idea as rates look like being low for quite a while yet). The guy nearly creamed himself when I mentioned paying off the mortgage early. All sorts of deals were on offer if I could pay up sooner rather than later. Yes, it's Bank Of Scotland. Think they might be a bit hard up for cash at the Mo? :D
