(for Drew!)

I had a run in with a ferry the other month and the cover off the indicator lamp unit thing came off. Is that an MOT fail? The indicator works of course, just the plastic cover on the unit is gone. Thinking it might be a risk to pedestrians?

I'd say so mate,

Any sharp/protruding edges will fail due to the risk to pedestrains!

Does the unit still flash with the amber colouring?

I've seen cars pass, with sellotape'd indicators providing they work, and are appropiate colour etc......

But due to the nature of our MOT system, should the tester be having a bad day/hangover etc, they will just fail it.

what make of car? An indicator shouldn't be hard to find, and wont be hard to fit.

it probably is a fail. A couple of years ago they failed me me cause "one if my indicator bulbs wasn't orange enough". It was clearly orange, just not orange enough. Ba***rds.

If it is a yellow bulb then remove the lense fully and it will pass. As long as it's safe and still working and yellow.
