MTBrider

Please do not post offensive material. Video, pictures, whatever.

If your unable to decide if what your about to post is offensive, just don't post it. There are plenty of other sites for this stuff, use them not MTBrider.

Anyone posting such material will be banned.

I presume this is about my thread. IMO it was not offensive at all, just a bit of a laugh. If this actually is to do with my thread, I'm keen to know what was so offensive about it? Yes, it was tipping on the verge of watchable for people who can't hack that sorta stuff too well, but I mean come on, I actually offended people by posting that??

I'm not sure what it was, exactly - but I closed down the browser pretty quick when it appeared, 'cos I'm at work.

A quick warning in the subject that the contents might not be work safe would do the trick, other than that, post whatever you like.

Em - Didnt you read what the admin said above....?

Speedfreak, yes it was your thread. The thread has been reported 18 times so far. If you disagree with the decision of the moderators or don't like the way we try to run the site I suggest you stop using it. As the moderator who started this thread said there are plenty of other forums that encourage posts like yours so maybe you'd be better using them instead. Just because the chat forum is over 18 now does not mean it's a free for all.

Not arguing at all here btw, but I'm surprised the thread was even reported at all, I thought it was bloody hilarious.

But yes, obviously this is a mountain bike forum and that thread wasn't completely about MTBing lol.

Heh. I didn't notice he was an admin, I thought he was just a regualr chap who'd been offended.

Think you should have a "Were you offended?" poll!!!

LOL, that's you told James ;-)

In fairness to the mods, it's a tough job on here, much much more gets posted and pulled before 99% of folk see it, some seriously OTT, yours was just disgusting! Things have been more relaxed lately cus of the over 16 thing, but at the end of the day we don't restrict people under that age reading the chat forum only posting to it so when posting you always need to ask yourself, is this suitable for a minor? Personally I wouldn't let my kids anywhere near this place, but some parents do so the mods have to consider this, other wise I get lots of complaining emails.

Bottom line is the mods are all powerful, they can and do ban people who don't play by the rules, or in the spirit of the rules, so be warned ;-)

Dude, calm yourself down before there you have a heart attack or something (I presume you took offense to it as well due to your response there). I'm not complaining with the moderators decision, I do have a prefectly well functioning brain and guessed that the thread had been reported. I was only giving my point of view that I didn't think the material would be offensive. If it was taken in that way then fair enough.

Now, maybe if you stopped for second and read my post again you will se that I asked a couple of questions, care to answer them? Without going crazy on me again please.

PS - As stated by quite a few people in this thread alone they, as I was too, were suprised to see the thread had been closed due to my video. My suggestion to those who found it offensive/reported it is;

- If you see a thread that says 'If you don't have a very strong stomach...DO NOT WATCH', don't click on it ;)

Have to agree totally. Why open something if you think it is going to offend you. Once you have opened it after being warned you shouldnt have the right to complain.

Steve, I may have been told but there's no need to speak to anyone like that. Man needs to wise up and learn to be a WELL MANNERED mod, not a CRAZY one who flips on people when they accept the reasons for a decision, and ask perfectly reasonable questions as to why the desicion was made.

Anyway some people can hack that stuff, others can't, hence why I was nice enough to put a warning up, in capitals, that people who can't handle things that reqiure strong stomachs should not enter the thread. If you go into it, then there is another sentence saying that you have been warned. IMO I thought that was enough, but I was clearly wrong...some people just have no sense.

Am I missing something here, is this about the other videos or something - I didn't watch them? James video was a spot being squeezed, that is all. Ok it was a huge one but thats what made it funny. Are people that sheltered? Unbelievable. I haven't watched the other videos but I hope this is all about them as I can't see why people are beating on James. Seriously 18 people about a spot being squeezed...do you walk up everyone you see on the street with spots and tell them how offended you are by their faces or something?

James post was no more "offensive" than Embarassing Illnesses or the like shown before the watershed any given day of the week.

I'll answer for the mods as most will be heading home now, you see they do day jobs and help out here for free.

"If you don't like it don't read/click/watch it" don't work. You see, we do not restrict the age group of people able to read this forum, we could but it'd be a nightmare to manage, so everything has to be suitable for kids. I know that legally we don't have to do this, most sites just say feck post what they like, but as the owner I feel a moral duty to keep things just about out of the gutter. I over step this imposed mark as often as the rest, I've had threads removed and locked and I've even been banned for ten days once (posting when pissed, bad!). So it applies to everyone.

It's pointless continuing on asking why, you won't get a reply, we decided years ago that mods were not going to get drawn into discussions about decisions they've made. The thread was modded, we all had a laugh, time to move on.

One last thing, this site is visited daily by literally thousands of people, less than 5% of those post to the forum on a regular basis. All of us regulars think we're the only ones here and we're all grown up so it's cool to push the boundaries a bit, but the reality is we're not so it's not.

Can we all drop it and move on now please as I want to head home and not have to check in here later?

i'll second that.
i mean i have been told of websites that if i posted them here, i'd be banned.
James give enough warning plus there is FAR more offenceful videos and pictures out there.

in comparision james's videos almost look nice.
just tone it down and stop giving James so much ****.

Ok look, Johny etc, I wasn't being given s**t so to speak, I did however find the way the 2nd mod responded the wasn't exactly the best. Very unneccasarily (sp) sharp and didn't answer any of my questions. Steve has spoke for him/her saying that mods will not get into discussions etc with people about such issues because they are all too angry and when they try to type in response to that stuff they break their keyboards all the time ;)

I don't really care about this one now as I understand why I'll not get a response to questions. Which is fair enough, not everyone has enough free time to deal with such things.

But still, the video was not offensive :)

I'm intrigued about what steve wrote to get banned btw, anyone wana be daring enough to write it again? lol

I'm tempted to ban James, for a laugh.

I need clarification here - Is it acceptable to post videos of Chilean transexual midgets miming to Shania Twain ? And if not, why not? It's because she/he is a midget isn't it.

Nah, that video wouldn't have been removed from here for being offensive. If we had a "not in the least bit original or even remotely funny" maybe, but not offensive. ;-)

MTBrider has always taken the moral high ground, just our morals have never been that far from the ground. I think what happened with that other thread was things started pretty low and looked like sinking much lower very quickly so the plug was pulled and a friendly warning broadcast, but as usual things have been blown out of all portions. Still, gave people something to moan about so not all bad.
