Hi Guys, i did the lap today and it was a great event. Sadly 6-7 miles before the end i came across a guy getting CPR form an off duty paramedic, there was nothing i could do so continued on meeting the ambulance> Its made me feel awful as i don't think he survivied, he just looked just like the rest of us>
Does anyone know anything more as i would appreciate it?

Just read this from the website Lap the Lough
Thankyou to everyone who turned up, battled the rain and made it safely home.
Sadly, everyone didn't make it home.
One cyclist died shortly before the finish of a suspected heart attack.
We're all devastated by the news.
Our thoughts and sympathy go to his family.

The cyclist who sadly lost his life on Sunday was my friend Bryan Hopley from Bangor. Bryan loved his cycling, and I, like everyone who knew him will miss him.

I'll just add to this thread as well.
We're all still devastated by Bryan's death and sympathy goes to all his friends and family.
We have a thread over at the official LTL site if anyone would like to leave a comment or a memory about Bryan.

Very sorry to hear about this.
I heard off a friend in work that the poor guy was only in his 20's. Not sure how true this is but very sad all the same no matter the age.

Just got this email through from the guys organising
"Hi there,
just a quick update.
Bryan Hopley was buried this morning.
His family have asked that any donations be made to Northern Ireland Chest Heart & Stroke. We've taken the decision to take a percentage of your Lap The Lough sign-on fee to donate to this charity, we know you won't mind. We've also added a 'donate' button to the home page if anyone would like to make a personal/additional donation.
Thanks"
