Hi
My brother is looking to buy a new bike for the summer, which is just round the corner. He has a max budget of £800 but can stretch if its really worth it.
He intends to do trail riding, so keep it hardtail for now, another thing he wants a new bike.
It would be great to hear back
Thanks!

Maybe something like this (http://www.winstanleysbikes.co.uk/product/20102/NS_Core_2_Bike_2009) although maybe thats sort of more hardtail dh than trail riding..
maybe a sidekick trail? (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/-DMR-SideKick-2-Complete-Bike-NEW-rrp-%a3780_W0QQitemZ270328030621QQcmdZViewItem)
or maybe if he's into his xc - a BeOne Aspire would do the job? (http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=31028) Think someone on here has one..?
These things (http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=30536) look the jab :)
The Rocky Mountain Flow series are also worth checking out and you cant go wrong witha G.T ;)
Good luck

Id second the NS core 2 08/09 if hes into his more aggressive riding. Looks perfect for NI trails.
Ive rode the aspire 2 and it feels very nice, but definately more xc orientated. The aspire 1 would make a good bike once you swap out a few components.

The GT aggressor XC1 and XCR are lethal specced bikes for the money. There was 20% of them last weekend too.

gee 120mm forks with 15mm bolt thorugh on a 550 quid bike -- and juicy 3 185/160 brakes -- that is a well thought out bike, really nice
I started on an agressor bike -- fantastic little frames, took quite a beating, i give it a thumbs up

You could have snapped it up for £440, the last two weekends! With my staff discount i was close to buying one to strip for parts.

Look at Charges full builds. IIRC the Duster is a nice looking bike. Or I might be selling a prophet for around that money to free up cash for going back to Uni, all top stuff. PM me if you are interested

How about the Kona Four that is in Real Cycles? I know it's full suss but at that price you would be nicely under budget with plenty of change in the pocket. I originally started with a Kona Kikapu which is essentially the same bike I believe and I loved it. As far as I know it's 17", would post a link but no can do copy & paste with iPhone ;). It's on the website though so worth a look.

BeOne Aspire is definitely XC orientated. Mine is now a Karma/Aspire hybrid with only the gearset remaining from the original bike. Good frame, well finished. Compliment with nice components, jobs a goodun'
JJ, i'm starting to yern after a steel frame hardtail.

My On-One 456 is a good wee bike, the frames are £185 at the minute. They do some groupset/wheel offers as well. Or a Trailstar or one of those NS jobs if you want something less jey.
