::talking from a non-mtb POV::

XC (Cross Country) -
This is for what most of us do anyway - a bike for generally playing around in the woods. It may have suspension, but not to an extreme, and will have a good spread of gears and good brakes. Ideally suited to rough but well worn off-road paths and tracks.
lol :p ignore me. Im not going to start the whole xc mincer thing again!

Lol, at my age, when I try to buy something and haggle them down by the usual, 'i can get it for x amount at x place' the usual reply is, ' why did you come here then!?'

how insightful, amazon and halfords well know for their amazing cycle knowledge and good aftersales

at least it's just guardian readers that it will stop coming into the shop

That was haggling for idiots, if the shop was worth his salt he should have trail closed them with the mudguards at £399 instead of letting the punter do the talking.

U know people think this is how cars are brought!
