Evening all :)
Need a new bottom bracket.. the one I have at the minute started creaking about a year ago, had just tightened it, taken it off and tightened it etc. since then.. Now it's completely done though, when the cranks are full on tightened they still move about 7mm from side to side:(
So.. I need a new bottom bracket. Have never bought one before so I don't have a clue what I'm looking for.. any of you guys have recommendations? 68mm, used with truvativ hussefelt cranks so I think it's one of those ISIS drive jobbies, correct me if I'm wrong though.
Also.. I'm halfway to removing my cranks.. but cant seem to get any further, how the flip do you get them off!?
The driveside one just dropped of when it was loosened, the non-driveside wont budge!

You sure your turning the crank extractor the right way round?

By the way, if the non drive side one just fell off then it was very loose and is where your 7mm of movement probably came from. I would first try putting that crank arm back on and tightening up correctly, you may find the movement is gone.

I cant see if that is a set of Outboard BB cups or an internal cartridge BB.
Either way, I have never experienced any such movement from a worn BB, just loose cranks.

which way is it meant to be turned?
Do you have to turn that bit I have in( crank extractor) with your hands, on it's own or is there anything yuo can add to it for a bit more grip/leverage?

You'll never turn it by hand once it bottoms out on the end of the BB axle.

read all about it on the parktool site :)

Seriously, try bolting your non drive side back on nice and tight.

If you don't have a replacement BB ready to go in there is no point taking that one out anyway. Measure the BB shell width and the width of the BB axle. It looks like an ISIS cartridge BB to me.

You'll need a breaker bar sometimes to get the crank arms off sometimes, they can be a right **** to get off.

Also, make sure that you've tightened the bit into the crank arm as much as it goes - or you could risk stripping the thread.
