Like chucky said, you get what you pay for, everybody has to start somewhere. Not everyone can afford a stinky when they are starting off.

On another note - £80 quid to get it fixed??
What you replace it with, a chris king?
Headset - Around £20-£30
Fitting - £10 - £20
Must have been more wrong than the headset, else you where robbed!

Surely £80 would get you a complete second hand Saracen. Well most of the way there anyway...

Saracen arent all that bad you know, their mantras (2 and 3) are very solid bikes for their price and take heaps of abuse, I myself have the old 05 Havoc and it has served me well since 2006/2007 till now on the dh trails even though its technically a trail bike. Their raw is their 'good' halfords bike IMO, Personally i don't think its just not worth spending the money on that bike so you can have full sus. It weighs more than it works in other words.. Saracen's kili bikes are also very good if you're into your mincing :-)
And apparently Madisson have bought over Saracen and have taken a year out for R&D to produce a new range of bikes so it'll be interesting to see what they can do.

I wouldn't waste my time. By the time you buy a new spring and get your LBS to fit it your prob into the price of buying a new set of forks.
Have a look thru the classifieds there is a few guys selling forks in there. Also its best to get a set of forks with similar travel to the ones your gonna take off, or you'll upset the geometry of your bike.

yes DHD, save up and put a set of 888s on it..
if you want to have a bike left after you drop off those big kerbs then buy Lwatson's DJs, they would do the trick.

In general, as i've said before - you get what you pay for.
When people say, buy a hardtail over a cheaper full suspension bike - they say it for a reason.
Saracen are decent enough bikes (for the money), assuming you buy with a bit of intelligence.
