I tried an app called Trailrunner (or something to that effect) but it was pretty useless. It picked up the location through GPS ok but then when you started out it would record all sorts of odd data such as walking at 20mph or travelling 2 miles by foot in a couple of minutes. Gave up on it in end so if anyone finds a good GPS trail logging alternative I'd be interested to know.

Trailguru - that was the one! Glad I'm not the only one who found it to be rubbish then, I was starting to wonder if it was just me!

crash kart is really good (crash team racing)
Jaadu is a good vnc app
remote for controlling your itunes library tho it might be mac only
Around me is a good app which will tell you things closest to you like bars, petrol stations, restaurants etc
Movies is good for checking cinema times etc easily.
shazam for those songs on the radio that you dont know the name of but want to know it!
That should keep you occupied for a while lol, most of my other apps are music related ones like the ir-909 which is a drum machine based on the roland 909 and i have a metronome and wireless midi keyboard!

I'm using AroundMe, eBay Mobile, Facebook, fring, Google Earth, Movies, Remote and Units at the moment - the only app's that I've actually found to be useful and reliable. Oh I have Cro-Mag Rally and Cube Runner to keep me amused on my lunch break as well :)
