Can't be any worse than Bush anyway.

The only problem i can see with obama being the new president is that it may seem like a masive leap in the history of the US, and it truelly is, but i think it will be of a detriment to eastern block relations, some of the former soviet union won't stand for obama's ethnic background, i am by no means a racist, very far from it, but in those types of countries, racism is an everyday occurance and is almost a way of life.

He'll only be as good as the team he surrounds himself with 9. But as conor points out, he's unlikley to be any worse than the moron he's replacing, so hopefully we have a starting point that's slightly stronger than "I got elected because my dad and his mates needed a puppet to start a war and win lots of lucrative munitions and subsequent rebuilding contracts..." Sorry, what I obviously meant to say was "we want to bring democracy to Iraqistan"

Meh, I dont think so. The former soviet block, even just Russia itself is comprised of people from many different ethnicities. If anything Obama's race will be a help rather than a hinderance. It'll make him more approachable and less of a figure head of hate amongst "the enemies of freedom". He's not your typical white american satan.
Hard to say what he'll do. He has such an almighty mess to clean up. He might pull U.S forces out of Iraq and Afghanistan, and in so doing he'll be responsible for plunging those countries into decades of civil war.
At the end of the day it doesnt matter what he does - he'll be better than McCain would have been, seeing as McCain may well have died or been unfit resulting in another ultra right wing born again christian fundamentalist retard with her finger on the button.

I just find it mildly amusing that at a time when words like credit crunch, recession, downturn etc. are all being thrown about every other sentence the American people voted for two people who splashed millions of dollars around on their campaigns like it grew on trees. Nothing like preaching about the economy when thats going on! But hey, who could lose an election when they have people like Bruce Springsteen singing for them ;)

Not like they have a choice, the system they have means you need hundreds of millions of dollars to run.

That is a brilliant!!!
How true!
With regards to being less of a figure of hatred, i hope so! I am not saying that americans are hated, or that i hate them, but when the interviewed american public come out and say(on many of the post election interviews) that they hope this election will help the world see them in a new light and not hated so, you know they have a problem.
But what is the alleged hatred for? Iraq? Afghanistan? Or maybe there own self-indulgent arrogance? I personally think its not for the appointment of any particular type of figure or leader, the american public have only themselves to blame, I know having lived there for a short period that its just the american way, to be seen as a big bold proud american.
It is a big bold new future for them, good luck to them.

I know its bad for for the head gardener at the White House who's just been sacked . Someone over heard him talking. He claims he was just asking one of his work mates "Has anyone seen the spade" ? Now thats PC madness.
