Can I stick any old 4-bolt chainring on a Saint crank, or do I need shimano specific ones?
Was looking a tthese ones....

Save yourself a fortune and get the steel Deore rings. They are fab. All you have to do is file the inside of the tabs on the granny ring.

They're cheap, aye - why the filing? I'd have thought shimano rings would fit, regardless?

they are for the old style cranks, the disc tabs are a bit longer so foul on the BB Cup when you put them on. If you have a dremel/ grinder it's a two min job.

Right, got you now.
I don't have a dremel, althouygh I'm thinking of getting one.
Saw some lad on MTBR who had polished his old saint cranks with a dremel - they looked ace.
