KONAWORLD (May 9, 2005) – By introducing four new rental specific downhill bikes for Groove Approved mountain bike parks across North America, Kona Bicycles has assuaged the fears of park staffers everywhere; no longer will rental bike fleets be reduced to piles of twisted, broken scrap metal by season’s end. Knowing full well rental bikes take more abuse than a red-headed stepchild, the design team at Kona based their park specific bikes for the ’05 season on the durable world champion Kona Stab downhill platform and equipped them with super burly components. These bikes take a beating with gusto, and can handle anything over-confident renters throw at them.
Kona will be the official mountain bike supplier for Groove Approved mountain bike parks at Whistler, BC, Snowshoe, WV, Panorama, BC, Winter Park, CO, and Northstar, CA. Each of these parks will receive a fleet of Kona rigs, with the spec of each fleet differing depending on the specific needs of each park.
Whistler will receive a fleet made up largely of Stab Garbanzos (pictured) and Freight Trains, along with a limited number of Livewires. Snowshoe, Panorama and Winter Park will be outfitted mostly with Stab Garbanzos, and Northstar will receive mostly Livewires.

<!--StartFragment -->Along with Kona bikes, these parks will receive replacement parts from component supplier sponsors Marzocchi, Race Face, Hayes, WTB, E13 and Fox.
With these Kona bikes at their disposal and a ready supply of replacement parts provided by their component sponsors, the Groove Approved parks will have a fleet of high-quality, durable rentals to provide to their customers, from opening day to season’s end.
