Anyone up for going and showing me about? or is it a bad idea in this weather?

I haven't been anywhere before so maybe I should go an fool about myself first? Ideas?

These directions (http://www.causewaycoastandglens.com/Activities/Walking/WoodburnForest/tabid/393/Default.aspx) should see you round the forest on the fireroads at least.

If you stick to those directions, apart from one tiny bit of the ulster way which (depending on your bike/weather) you may have to push, it's fireroad almost all the way. You could do it any time of the year. It's not the most fun you'll have ever on a bike but it's a good loop for getting in the miles on forest road.

I have a doofer for google earth i made a while back but i can't find it at the minute (must be on my other computer or at work). If i come across it i'll post it up - shows some of the more hidden singletrack i was able to find.

If you're just looking for getting some fireroad miles in this should do you in either direction:

While you're pedalling round just keep your eyes peeled for tyre marks leaving the fireroad and investigate them if you fancy.

as a local trail, it's as good as any, particularly if you are just trying to get a few miles under you. tim's magenta trail looks particularly attractive.

I've done a fair bit of riding in Woodburn, mainly in the south forest.

Check out the Google Earth links below to see the main trails we use.

Okay, just back. Went for an hour or so after uni (around 4 I left).

Drove up to a Church and parked in a anglers car park I think. Took the bike out and took it around a few single tracks for my first time basically. It was awesome! Most of the tracks were not wet except for a few pot holes. I followed the first one I could find for about 30mins which was mostly DH. Got to the point though where I didn't know where to go, was completely lost. Was like the track just stopped lol. So I pushed the bike round for a while until I got another track which started going back up the hill-type ground to where I started. Was getting quite dark so I'm glad I found where I came from again.

For my first time on single track, I loved it. Can't wait to get a decent bike now (my V brakes where starting to give up a little with the mud), and go to some other trails.

congratulations, cucumber! you have taken the first steps towards maturing into a fine marrow. hell, becoming a big juicy pumpkin is only round the corner, but just watch yerself round this time of year - you don't want someone hollowing out your head and shoving a candle down inside.

keep it country!

Erm, drinking? But thanks :)

Went again today, took a different route and it wasn't as exciting. I'll try somewhere else tomorrow.

Out this morning in Woodburn. Trails which were clear on the way out had been blocked again with logs etc. We cleared again but someone is obviously determined, that's at least 3 times we have cleared. Mostly near the car park but not restricted to there.
