Folks, thanks for all the help tonight, especially to Simon for getting me home, and to Hollywood for all the carrrying and organising. And to everyone else for not laughing out loud at me like I deserved.

X-ray says I broke my collar bone, 4-6 weeks recovery time. Not as bad as the last time. Serves me right for trying to be clever.

Ah man, what happened? Same collar as last time?

I'm sure Tim'll be on offering to look after your bike!!

Get well soon Baz. Must say you stayed in very good humour despite the pain.

It wasn't nice watching you come off. Passed the spot this morning, there's a Nicolai shaped gouge in the gravel :)

I was trying to be cool, and not thinking properly. At the bottom of Mudslide, there's a concrete platform about 2 or 3 feet above the ground that you can drop off if you stay right. So i tried to. There were a few guys waiting at the road, and someone even said, "Watch out for the drop". "Aha", thinks I, lining it up, "they won't be expecting this!". Turns out they weren't, and neither as I. I tried, while going far too slow, in too low a gear, to wheelie off it. And i had my forks wound down. And I couldn't really see. So I went arse over tit and landed on the side of my head and left shoulder.

Annoyingly, I thought I was ok, initially. I'm used to falling off, and so did the usual thing after a big knock, which is just sit for a couple of minutes, get my breath back, and wait to see if anything gets really sore. It didn't, so I thought i was fine. So just before I stood up, I had a quick feel and found a lump here there shouldn't be a lump, and from then it as pretty obvious I'd done my collar bone.

Lesson learned, don't try stuff on impulse, check you're set up right first.

Thanks again to everyone for all the help.

Sorry to hear that man, I know exactly where your talking about. Easy enough drop to flat if your lined up right but its nearly always slick, and there is a lip hidden by the grass to catch you out aswell. Best left alone imo :)

Get well soon.

Ouch, I know exactly where you mean, I've had some dodgy landings off there myself. Hope you heal quickly.

Saw the marks on the ground yesterday when I was out for a spin.

I suggest we name that drop 'Baz's Faceplant'.

I finally got round to checking my helmet last night. There's a sizeable impression on the left hand side. That's my thinking side too. Wear a helmet kids!

That's always a tempting wee drop after surviving mudslide, but it also always looks like to small a run in to a survivable run off.

Tuff luck m8 and heal soon.

p.s. oh and no don't lend your bike to Tim, he's more accident prone than you are !

Jeepers Baz - Just reading this now.

Rotten luck.

How long til the wedding? I have had a 6 month embargo on all "dangerous" activities threatened on me before mine next August... though I did tell her the majority of my stag weekend will be in peebles and spent on bicycles.
