about time someone made a proper small bike for kids , with any luck they will have the wit not to give it 27 speed! 5/7 would be more than enough , and either a light fork that actually works with the weight of intended rider or even better a rigid fork. Oh...and brakes they can reach! A well made bike like this although expensive can be passed down the family for years.

Wow! Don't tell my young lad, I've only just bought him a 24" Kona Hula.
The rear stays look somewhat asymmetric

Are hope bringing out a range of frames then, or is this a one-off one for kids?

a kid would never respect the quality thats put into a bike like that, it will just get left out in the rain or left outside a mates house with 'steal me written all over it' waste of money!
I must admit it looks well stealthy :D

Great, well thought out, kids bikes can be found at www.islabikes.co.uk
Santa brought a Beinn24 to our house last year and everyone has been well impressed. All at reasonable money too.

Cheers for that link. My eldest is 6 next week and is fairly tall for his age. If you don't mind me asking - how old/tall is you nipper? I'm liking the look of the Beinn20, but am slightly put off by the 5+ bit. I would like it to last him a few years and the 24 you got looks a tad big. (he currenlty has a 14" wheeler) Some of the links/reviews mention plenty of growing room, would you agree?
Cheers

My boy was 6 1/2 when he got it and he's not the tallest tree in the forest so I'd guess your wee one could handle the 24 no problem. He progressed from a 16" wheel and has never looked back. The bigger wheels are so much more stable and the bike is very light so easily handled, not like these full suss field gates most young ones ride about on. His twin brother has a 24" Specialised (got it cheap 2nd hand) and although it's a good bike too, it's not as well thought out as the Beinn. The Isla's are the best kids bikes I have seen for the money.
I'm in Antrim myself so you could get a look at it/try it out if you want.
Give me a shout.
